Has anybody ever loaded a 50 cal with a series of smaller balls say 8 .320 diameter O buckshot? Any idea's?

That load might be a bit much for a 50 cal. The balls would be stacked one on top of the other. If you want multiple projectiles try buck and ball. 50 cal minie ball with a round ball behind it.

The reason I was looking at the 8 balls was that then the muzzle loader could enter the shot gun with shot only for deer season. I have seen a 50 cal shot with 3 other balls plus the main patch/ball.

I use shot in loadings for my 50/90 sharps, birdshot however, it works okay for short range, but with the rifled barrel, patterns are not good out very far. These birdshot loads are put up with, brass cases and black powder, and i think a muzzleloader would perform similarly.

No for a rifle - but I have shot 10 round .380 balls out of a 10 gauge cap lock double shot gun ahead of 5 drams of FFFG.

The balls sat in 5 layers, 2 X 2 and total weight was 2 oz.

Oh, did I mention recoil?

And 5 of the balls perforated an old kitchen stove at 100 paces! Looked like a string from a Sten.

An awsome load.
