Gents,

I'm looking at picking up a couple of new sticks and was curious at the discrepancies I've been finding between posted MSRPs on Remingtons and what's being advertised in my local shops. I'm wondering if anyone knows why there's such a huge discrepancy, and what prices I should be expecting to pay for any of the following. (The following are all assuming .308)

Rem 700 SPS Tac (NIB).........Online: $550-650 USD.... Instore: $900+ (told "discontinued, not available", but still in stock at Remmy?)

Rem 700 SPS (NIB)...............Online: $500+ USD.... Instore: $800+

Appreciate any help.

If you are buying from a local gunshop their price my be a bit higher. I just took a peek at WSS website and their price for an SPS is $539-$569.

First off, i find it kinda funny that you call your firearms "sticks", never really heard anyone refer to it as such.... lol but each to their own....

Secondly, thats quite the price difference from local to online... Even our local shops around here aren't charging $800+ on a Rem SPS.... Their out to lunch on those prices and can't see them selling to many at that price point. If thats the case around you, i'd definitely be buying my next rifle online.

What I haven't figured out is comparing online in USD versus I assume Canada.
Maybe I am reading this wrong?
If you are shopping in the US the prices ARE less expensive than what you will find in Canuckistan. There are several reasons for this.
If you are in Canada, try shopping and compareing in Canada.
If I has misunderstood your question, disregard my reply.

A lot of the on-line retailers have no store front. Hence, lower or no over head costs.
"...Rem 700 SPS Tac..." No indication of it being discontinued on Remington's site. That doesn't mean a Canadian retailer's distributor will have any. MSRP is $681US. The 'S' means 'Suggested'. No retailer is obligated to sell for that price.
