Questions about getting an SVT 40 or Mosin-Nagant

Mosin. It'll make you a better shooter, and let you time your shots out more.
But if you have dollar signs in your eyes like the others, and are fixated on future value and the deceptive cool factor that a semiautomatic with a muzzle brake offers, then go for the SVT

Before I bought the arsenal tool I took a 5mm socket and dremeled a notch in it, it fits in the hole in the stock perfect. I have it on the screwdriver handle from my socket set. The cheapo sks sight adjustment tool works great as well. Here's pics of all three, factory, sight tool and my diy tool. All work great.

Hat's off to you for the info my friend....i have the cheapo NCstar sks sight adjustment tool, i bent the friggin tip there trying to twist that crossbolt awhile back, but the socket idea is a good one and thanks for the measurment to help take out the guesswork. I do have a dremel tool, but i may need to acquire the socket. !! Cheers man

Very welcome, the socket diy works great and it's cheap or free if you have an extra set with 1/4" sockets that never see much use. I tried to remove the bolt with pliers etc initially but it won't budge, so I made do with that for a good year till I picked up the sight tool.

I picked up the gas adjust wrench and bolt wrench from lever arms just to have the real thing in my kit, I noticed Corwin arms is selling them for 35$ ish for the set or they have a full cleaning kit like the mosin comes with that has the cross bolt tool and gas valve wrench.

I just noticed while perusing the corwin site :) ... i am gonna try to get my hands on that wrench. I tried the smallest adjustable wrench i had today and it is a little to big to grab the bolt and again i could hear the wood giving a little so i didnt press to hard with fear of gouging. Anyway i'll get'r done. thanks again
