I bought this moss camo gun and recieved today.
But this is one hole empty on top of the reciever. Is this normal or should I ask the dealer sending me one screw to fill it?

It seems to me the loading of shells is different from remington 870, which I own. No loading gate was observed. Is this the way it is for a Mossberg?

Thank you.

Is it safe to shoot with this little hole on top of receiver? Will be any high pressure hot air or metal debries venting out through that hole? Much appreciated for any help.

thanks for all the replies. So the only problem left would be the empty drilled hole on top of the reciever.

Is it safe to shoot this Moss AS IS with the hole open? THank you again.

The screw is just a placeholder for a picatinny rail that you can mount as an option. I assume it's purpose is to keep dirt and debris out of the holes.

I think you're safe.

It'd be safe, why wouldn't it? The hole is in the reciever, not the barrel. The shell will be a few inches forward of the hole, when firing. Get the screw when you can, but don't not fire it while you wait for a stupid little screw. I doubt it would happen, but maybe just give the hole a bit extra cleaning attention, other than that, don't worry :)

Thanks. I may shoot it this weekend. A accumulation of #4, #6, BB, and slugs in the basement due to the lazyness during hunting seasons need to be spent. Well, I have to keep some of them for Zombie protection though.

By the way, Greenhorse, do you know where I could locate this rail in good price? Thanks.
