Okay, so I have decided to send an old shotgun that I am refinishing to Tarjac for Camo-Dipping.

My question is, what condition does it have to be in? I have already taken the pump and stock off, chemically stripped them, glued the cracks and sanded them down. Can I just send bare walnut or should they have some sort of finish on them?

Secondly, what do I have to do to the shotgun before I send it? They said this in their email:

"When you send your parts in to us, we would like them to be ready for dipping. So if you have to sand them or take care of the rust please do so before shipping them to us. Other wise they will charge you a fee up to $60.00. As for shipping your products here. We have no trouble, because everything is either broken down, or you have to remove your trigger and action which then makes the gun just parts, because it can not be fired. "

This left me with only a vague idea as to what to do. There isn't any real rust to worry about, but I was thinking about spraying the whole thing with brake cleaner, and then giving it a light coating of oil. I figure I can send the wood off of the shotgun, but what about the barrel, reciever, and all the other parts?

I hope you all can clear this up by telling me exactly how to send this shotgun... I'm sure by this point you can see I'm just a little confused as what to do to the shotgun before shipping it to Tarjac.

One more thing, am I going to have any trouble shipping it across boarder??

Call April at Tarjac and ask her
one thing to keep in mind is to :eek:BE SURE TO STATE THAT YOU WANT IT MAILED BACK TO YOU!!!!!!
I sent my guitar in to be done and they did a great job BUT!! they shipped it back UPS and it cost me $105.00:mad:

I called to see if they would do anything about the cost but I have not herd back yet:confused:

And yes I stated to them to ship it back in the mail

It appears that TARJAC is in the U.S.. Sending a shotgun to them should be easy but getting it back may be like buying a new one from the U.S.. TARJAC can send it to you but U.S.CUSTOMS will probably hold it unless they have the proper paper work and Canadian import permits and U.S. export permits. Also because the U.S. military are using shotguns, shotguns and their parts are weapons of war and require more paperwork. I'm not trying to discourage you , just suggest you check this aspect before you send off your shotgun.

ugh .. maybe I should just use Buck Expert in Quebec instead .. problem is they dont do anything other then "realtree" type camo jobs.

Oh well, better that then a shotgun stuck in 'beaurocracy' for months I suppose.
