Considering I work in the field of network\web infrastructure, that's a pretty cute response. Alot of much larger companies and retailers have traffic issues on Black friday. Costco, Eddie Bauer, to name a few all had issues yesterday. It's not unreasonable that the sale and web traffic exceeded their expectations and I'm sure they'll make the appropriate upgrades for next year. MDT has always had great customer service in my dealings, so it's not really fair to dump on them because you didn't get the items you wanted on sale.
Leadmonkey is 100 percent correct and you are out to lunch. The only reason you are happy is because you managed to get what you wanted. Many of us took time off and were ready for this sale only to have the server crash continually. Tell me again how working through all the garbage multiply times and finally having the items in your cart but being unable to complete the purchase due to the server is a good experience or well run sale? Those who were first or even had the items first often weren’t the ones able to complete the sale.
I won’t be wasting my time again. That was an extremely frustrating experience. This is from a guy who once lined up from midnight until the opening of the Reliable sale in -10 weather. That was a good sale. Had those of us who lined up been greeted at the opening of the sale with hordes of que jumpers or lining up at the cash register with items in hand only to have someone else grab them from you and buy them after being told the cash register decided not to accept your purchase... well a riot would have broke out. That’s pretty much what happened with this MDT epic lack of bandwidth sale.
Good for you that you managed to get what you wanted. At least have enough decency not to be an a$$ about it. No amount of BS justification on your end is going to convince anyone here that this was a well run sale or that this couldn’t have been prevented or that the traffic couldn’t have been expected.
Anyways. Glad some people did well and there were some real deals. Personally I’ll look elsewhere rather than go through that again. So more for others I guess.
