Questions about the 2019 Legendary Black Friday Sale?

Considering I work in the field of network\web infrastructure, that's a pretty cute response. Alot of much larger companies and retailers have traffic issues on Black friday. Costco, Eddie Bauer, to name a few all had issues yesterday. It's not unreasonable that the sale and web traffic exceeded their expectations and I'm sure they'll make the appropriate upgrades for next year. MDT has always had great customer service in my dealings, so it's not really fair to dump on them because you didn't get the items you wanted on sale.

Leadmonkey is 100 percent correct and you are out to lunch. The only reason you are happy is because you managed to get what you wanted. Many of us took time off and were ready for this sale only to have the server crash continually. Tell me again how working through all the garbage multiply times and finally having the items in your cart but being unable to complete the purchase due to the server is a good experience or well run sale? Those who were first or even had the items first often weren’t the ones able to complete the sale.

I won’t be wasting my time again. That was an extremely frustrating experience. This is from a guy who once lined up from midnight until the opening of the Reliable sale in -10 weather. That was a good sale. Had those of us who lined up been greeted at the opening of the sale with hordes of que jumpers or lining up at the cash register with items in hand only to have someone else grab them from you and buy them after being told the cash register decided not to accept your purchase... well a riot would have broke out. That’s pretty much what happened with this MDT epic lack of bandwidth sale.

Good for you that you managed to get what you wanted. At least have enough decency not to be an a$$ about it. No amount of BS justification on your end is going to convince anyone here that this was a well run sale or that this couldn’t have been prevented or that the traffic couldn’t have been expected.

Anyways. Glad some people did well and there were some real deals. Personally I’ll look elsewhere rather than go through that again. So more for others I guess.

I'm not tech pro, although I'm no slouch (I have a couple small tech companies, but nothing to do with networking). What I found odd was that I had zero luck with chrome, I had 2 computers and a phone trying to load screens, for about an hour. All weren't working and just hanging or crashing part way through the process (all on google). When I switched to firefox on a whim it worked quickly, still seized up a couple of times but within 15-10 minutes I had two orders go through. Not sure what that means but in the time I still couldn't get chrome to load on any devices. It seems a couple others had issues with chrome as well. Might have contributed to the issues. Anyways, it is what it is.

I used safari on my phone and TOR on my computer and got through on my phone but it was after 1hr and 20min or so and I was refreshing as fast as I could click. You can’t blame a company because they ran out of stock. I was on the go from the first second and I too was frustrated but getting up and walking away never got anyone a good deal. I’m not bad mouthing anyone but MDT at least offered the sale and wether you say I won’t shop there again or not a lot of other people will still be trying for next years deals. Maybe it would be more fair if the launch time wasn’t announced, but then everyone involved would complain that they waited 24 hours and still might not get a deal. You can’t make every one happy.

Ppl can ##### but sale or not mdt makes a quality product and stands behind their products. Ill let a glitch slide to have a company have my back if i have an issue with their product. I hope they continue to offer sales and discounts on first and 2nd quality products in the future

FYI they have added more stock to the sale and I was able (finally, after many efforts) to get an ACC blem. Chrome still doesn't work, but MS Edge did.

Thanks MDT for adding more stock.

I got a couple of the chassis' I was after, but not the stocks I wanted...life isn't fair I guess. It's no different than people that line up outside stores for boxing day. Just because you take time off work and line up doesn't mean you're entitled to anything. It's a sale...not everyone is going to get what they want.

bought a cadex after unsuccessfully getting the mdt site

got their email and tried again I was ok but froze during attempted checkout and magically got a full price one,

sent email asking for cancellation and refund,

will just try maybe Sunday maybe not

it was not done on purpose so not upset, things happen and they bought Jae assets to make stocks for us, they are good people and business outpaced their setup understandable they make decent stuff. they can’t spend big money on a one day sale

I can hardly wait until they announce the Jae line in the spring or summer 2020

and go visit my aunt in hospital tonight to get mind off gun stuff for a evening

Jeff

I think you are purposely missing the point. Glad you got what you wanted. Cadex was my solution so it worked out just fine for me as well.

My desktop was going nowhere with the site, but I think I got really lucky when I used my phone because I got through first try and managed to snag a blem acc chassis, grip and mag.
The experience wasn't a fun one but in the end congrats to the lucky ones and thanks MDT for the sale!

Our sincerest apologies for the experience, everyone. Our servers were crashed due to the number of people logging onto the website at one time. This was unforeseen and our fault. If you missed out, send us an e-mail to support@mdttac.com, and we can see what we can do for you!

Also, we will be going through this and reaching out as soon as we can. In the meantime, if you had an issue send us an e-mail.

Wow. That’s pretty amazing for them to reach out. I got lucky with the second wave of blems but honestly it was weird in that I tried to add the item to the cart at least 20 times before it worked. Never had an experience like that before with an o line checkout.

If I had quit at 20 goes I wouldn’t have picked up a great deal. I can appreciate the frustration but MDT sure looks to be doing way more than the minimum to make things right.

Have to admit, hard to stay upset after that post. Email sent. Not the end of the world.

Went back and ordered 8 of the 12 round 308 mags. Not the blems but still an excellent deal. Also a much nicer shopping experience as the server worked properly and quickly.

I did get in on the deals but they contacted me via a private message here to check up and see if I got everything ok. I mean who does that. I’ve never had a company try to make you happy after the fact. I mean it was a sale. These guys are A+++ in my books. You couldn’t ask for a better Canadian Company.

I didn't manage to buy any of the items I was looking for (bipod and mags) as factory seconds. I was initially using Chrome and I couldn't get the website to load at all. I ended up trying an hour later using internet explorer and I was able to purchase both items (non-blemished versions). The blemish deals for great but oh well, no hard feeling I save a few bucks. Learn from it and make improvements for next year. Thanks for the same day shipping.

Jeez I think i bought some things but havent received a confirmation email. I had a skeletonized stock blemish but it didnt include it. Thats fairs, somebody else was quicker on the draw.
One suggestion. Instead of selling just blemished items why not make some Black Friday Only items that are great deals with good quality but only available for the one day. Price point mags, stocks.

Will the tradition of Black Friday sale continue, or will factory blemishes go back to being listed weekly/monthly?

I’ll be happy either way, and glad to support you guys. Hopefully you’ll have taken away the learning experience from this year if it stays the same.

Glad some ‘extra’ stuff was added for a ‘second sale’ - did end up getting 1 of the things I was after, and missed out on a few things, but such is life.
Congrats to those that scored big... this sale truly was ‘legendary’ on many accounts (good and bad :p)

IMHO was the best of the black Friday deals I picked up.... Webpage part made it interesting. Maybe I'd be singing a different tune if I didn't get the chassis I wanted, but probably not. I missed out on a couple other non-firearms deals I was really looking forward to and although I'm disappointed, c'est la vie. Good on MDT for reaching out, unnecessary in my opinion but a great gesture.

Not interesting, purely frustrating. I made it to check out multiple times with the items I wanted in my cart........ website crashes, go to pay.......... website crashes, item out of stock.

Barely missed last years sale, So because i work out of town I took the whole day off work, easily could of bought a non discounted tac21 for the wages I loss.

Rather funny all the people being like “I got what I wanted, don’t see why others are upset”

If the site would of functioned properly, I’d be happy and MDT would of easily made off with $2k of my money

Copy/paste from my response in the other thread:
I just want to say, you folks at MDT are A+ and handled the website issues well. I sent an email and received a very prompt and helpful response. For anyone who had a hard time trying to order, I'd suggest taking MDT up on their offer to reach out via email - they certainly did right by me. They are stand up folks who are doing right by the customer. No need to drag them over the coals on this one or walk away with a sour taste - they very much care and have been very responsive in dealing with an unfortunate situation. I hold MDT in high regard for handling this well. I suggest everyone give them the opportunity and do the same. Thank you MDT!
