Hello all, I just noticed the ad in the EE from Kodiak Outpost regarding the TOZ 99 and TOZ 78 rifles. I searched but I couldn't find anything (does anyone know how to use the search function on this site?). How do these rifles shoot? Are they worth it? How is the availability of aftermarket/re-placement parts? I realize there are many other options out their for rifles in this price range, but I'm curious about these as they strike me as different from the competition.

Had TOZ-17, was good rifle. If 99 and 78 built like that ,should be good also. Don't need spare parts - rifle never break , built like Belarus traktor. Get Vostok ammunition - works good also. svidania komrade

There are several TOZ-99's on here that broke down early, and replacement parts are unavailable. I'd avoid those until you know they have been improved.
The 78's seem to have an improved stock over the batch Armrus brought in. They are a good gun, not sure about the price, as that is basically in the Winchester Wildcat range.

Bought the '99, only got to put about 200 rounds through it, but it never jammed and shot very well. Rounds with lighter/shorter bullets have trouble feeding from the mag. On the plus side you get four of them. Also tools for rifle disassembly. Wood is very nice, and the price is right. Lastly a set of rings designed specifically for this rifle can be had for about fifty bones from kalinka optics.

Lots of TOZ info there.
Both my Son & I have 78's, bought for $100 from Armrus years ago.
Flawless performance other than some of the plastic mags are finicky at times. Very accurate, particularly for that price. I have @ 12 rimfires and it's my favourite.
Also have an older, used 99 that I don't shoot much.
I much prefer the 78.
