There's quite a few fishing and hunting regulations that my friends and co-workers cannot agree on. So I'll be sending an email out to a CO regarding the regulations here in sask. If you got some answeres or have a question yourself, shoot it over and I'll send it in. I'll be sending this email in about a week to let you think about it.

1. What exactly are the regulations on having a firearm or bow on an ATV?

2. Which animals are considered a varmint? Which can we shoot? Skunk? Rabits? Fox? Porcupine? Crows? Pigeons? Beavers? Lynx? Wolf? Cougars? Bobcats? Muskrat? Pigs?

3. Can you carry two fire arms during big game season? Like a rifle and a shotgun?

4. If you have permission from the land owner, can you use an old barn or farm house as a blind?

5. Can you use a light while fishing at night? Some say you can tie a glow stick to your anchor.. Others say you can't.

6. Can you use FMJ on pests, like gophers or squirrels?

7. Can you hunt waterfowl from a boat that is not motorised?

8. What is considered a gun case for transportation or when required to have your gun encased? A gun sock? Leather case? Hard case? I heard you can use a big hockey sock....

If you got anything to add, let me know

1. You may carry a firearm on an ATV provided it is unloaded and encased. During a big game season, you may only use an ATV for hunting in the forest zones. Refer to synopsis for regulations on which zones and time of day restrictions.

2.The synopsis used to have a royalty page for furs near the back. If an animal is listed, you need a fur license to harvest these animals. Season dates apply.
Common pests include: pigeons, crows, porcupines, gophers, skunks, grackles, black bieds and even wild pigs. The pigs are not a game animal. Protected species include ravens, seagulls, songbirds, shorebirds in general. For a complete listing refer to SERM. THIS IS NOT A COMPLETE LIST.

3. You can carry two firearms any time you wish. You may only use one of them at a time. The other must be unloaded and disassembled/encased/disabled.

4. You can use any structure that you wish if you have the permission of the land owner including windmills, barns, sheds, etc. It is an offense to discharge a firearm within 500m of any occupied building, dwelling or corral without the permission of the occupants/landowner.

5. Not sure.

6. Yes. You can not use FMJ/non expanding bullets for hunting big game.

7. Yes. You can hunt from a boat that is motorized. You just can not be under the power of a motor while hunting.

8. Princess Auto has soft cases for under $20. Buy a case and avoid the confusion.

YMMV, this is my understanding of these questions as they apply to the Wildlife Act. I am not a peace officer, nor a lawyer.

Refer to the Wildlife Act and the current synopsis for actual wording.
