Do these uppers use the sten mags, are they the only manufacture of the ar15 9mm uppers that do. If so what do you have to do if anything to the mags to allow them to fit, or do you just have to buy the correct magwell block to fit these mags. Has anyone had any experience with these or any other 9mm uppers, are they reliable as compared to the beretta storm for example. Any other input would be appreciated thanks.

I'm not sure if this answers your question, and I don't know if Olympic makes a sten mag 9mm AR, but I know they DO make one that takes Glock mags. Just something to keep in mind, as that would be legal to use with widely available 10 round Glock pistol mags. From what I've read on www.ar15.com, Olympic does not share the reputation for good quality that the ABCD, Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt, Diemaco products do. YMMV.
Oly 9mm upper
I have one. It has been extremely reliable. The only jams I ever had were related to beat up mags. The STEN mags from Oly are modified with a block welded to them so they fit the AR magwell. They are pricey (about $60 US ea.) I bought a separate mag block from Kurt's Kustom Firearms http://www.kurtskustomfirearms.citymax.com/catalog/item/29585/386988.htm which allows me to use unmodified STEN mags (blocked to 5 rounds, of course
). STEN mags are still pretty cheap and plentiful. Also, it is possible to modify the STEN mags with some feed lip alterations so they fit the Oly 45 ACP upper.
IMHO this is a better system than the Colt one with its expensive drop-in mag blocks and REALLY expensive mags.

9mm Oly upper
No bolt hold open but I find that a very minor inconvenience given the reasonable cost of the unit and availability of cheap mags. As I stated previously, once I eliminated a couple of faulty mags its function has been flawless.contact148 said:
