I have a chance on a Remington 550 semi. Anything I should know about these /look for? He is asking $200. The other is an old Cooey mod 82 single shot trainer. Full stock I believe used as a WW2 trainer for cadets etc. Asking $100. I haven't seen either one of these and picture leave much to be desired. Any comments appreciated.

Both worth the money they ask. The semi will probably chew any ammo you put thru it. and the single is very accurate and desirable to many, even just as a collector gun. I personally would take them both.

The Model 82 can be in 3 configurations...Military marked full wood, also unmarked full wood...sportered wood and another stock. the barrel may be marked 82 but what woods are on it.?

From the photo the 82 is full wood, don't know if military marked or not. What would be a relistic resale on either one.

the 550 is one of a few semi autos that will cycle shorts, longs, lr. It does this via a "floating chamber". In my experience, this floating chamber has to be kept reasonably clean (rifle needs to be disassembled - floating chamber taken out and cleaned.......not just running a patch down the bore) or the rifle will start jamming even when using 22lr. I could get though about half a brick or so and then it would start jamming and would need to be cleaned.
Its made of all steel and wood and will probably outlast you. If you want to shoot shorts though a semi, get it......or if you don't mind cleaning it fairly regularly, get it. If not, perhaps get something else. IMHO, YMMV.

If it's in good shape :yingyang:, seize upon it! :)

It's the precursor to the 552 Speedmaster.....:D......and one of the only rifles you can shoot CB Longs though in semi-automatic...........albeit for only about 4-5 rounds in a row.......

This is a bit of "heresy" :nest: , but the Model 82 is just one of the coolest Cooey's around  , so if the bore's good :yingyang: , you can always refinish the wood (hence the "heresy"......).......:ninja:
