I am green to reloading and am at that point where it is time.
I have loads of brass, and loads of bullets but no primers or powders. I like the primers that come on the winchester supreme ammo.... they do not dent from being chambered like many primers do.

anyhow..... please post your educated suggestions on primer selection , powder selection ect. I will be reloading commercial brass, nosler 150 & 168 gr patitions, AMAX 150 gr ballistic tips ect. My barrel is a krieger DMR medium contour SS 1:12 twist and has a match .308 chamber of 1.630 cut with a clymer pull through reamer if this matters.

I'm looking for a good load, primer powder for the 150 gr AMAX for target to 600 yrds and the 168gr partitions for hunting within 300 yrds.

also wondering if anyone cares to share experiences loading lighter than 150 gr .308 as I'm thinking of trying to develop a lighter load for plinking/tacrifle.

I'm a newbie at reloading too, so take my advice worth a grain of salt:

Primer:
CCI No.34 Military specification primer (Some people say it's a magnum primer, thus less then ideal for extruded powder, others swear by these).

Powder: From what I've read, IMR4895 is pretty much the accepted ideal for the M14, although the gas system can be tweaked for other powders.
