I have been hunter Coyote with a bolt action gun for a while with success. I alwaise wanted a Semi-auto centre fire so I recently acquired a WKC-180. I did my home work and I'm aware that it's probably not the best tool for this job. my shot are in general between 50 to 250 yard some time 350. I reload my own ammo and I intend to develop a load for this new baby. I have not yet try the gun but everyone mention the trigger is awfully so I want a change it.

I found this thread.
Drop in Trigger Options for WK180-c
https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1758981-Drop-in-Trigger-Options-for-WK180-c

I'd like to get the ALG Defense ACT. I can't find anything on the web that shows how to installed it and what mods are required.

Anyone has this information?

My other option would be a https://triggertech.com/. They offer couple of interesting option. not sure about a double stage trigger in a Semi-auto. It's expensive and I'm not sure this is something I should consider. Also the trigger tech required the external bolt catch . it's more money again.

Down the road I might consider changing the barrel. some how feel it would probably improve accuracy a lot more but I want a test out the factory barrel first.

Any tough? I might have posted this in the wrong section if so admin please feel free to change it.

Well you might get more answers in the black rifle forum but many people just hit NEW POSTS so your thread will come up for all to see anyway.

I think it would be a great coyote rifle for your purposes. The ones I’ve used have certainly been accurate enough for coyotes to 250 yards and frankly that was using bulk ammo and a red dot so with hand loads and a scope you would be just fine. The trigger is basically “milspec” quality so not the best but not unusable either. There have been a number of threads on trigger replacement on the black gun forum. True North Arms has a section on thier website dedicated to wk180 upgrades so you may find a trigger there.

I would for sure try handloads in your factory barrel before rebarreling, you prob won’t get precision bolt action accuracy but it will likely be more than adequate for what you need.

I have a Gen 2 and the stock trigger isn’t great. I put in a Triggertech single stage adaptable AR trigger set to 2# pull weight and man is it so much more fun to shoot now. Trigger dropped right in, did the install myself. Took maybe 30min as was my first time doing it. Ended up putting my cousins Triggertech in for him in his gen 2. Took 10-15 min that time. As for the ALG ACT it’s maybe slightly better then the stock trigger.

At best I was able to get 1.5 from handloads with my 1st Gen WK180, and that was in optimal conditions bench rest shooting.
Trigger has been changed out to an ALG ACT. No mods required. Trigger Tech and other cartridge style drop ins may require the bolt release to be ground down a bit.

I'll keep my CZ527 bolt gun in 223 for yotes.

Why is the WK180 not a "good tool for coyotes?" What would be "the best tool for coyotes?"

The WK180 is a reasonably accurate 223 SA rifle. Like any rifle it will require some tuning / tweaking for your purposes but otherwise it will be fine for yotes.

The WK180 comes with what is essentially a MIL Spec AR15 trigger, so it is functional but not a nice experience. Pretty much any AR15 trigger will work in a WK180. I have a Timney drop-in trigger in one of my AR's and it was super simple to install and is very good. There are loads of options for match grade AR triggers.

FWIW, a 2-stage trigger is my preference. The first stage is basically take-up, which allows you to get your finger on the trigger shoe and feel where the second stage is located. This makes it safer than a very light single-stage unit. A good 2-stage should be very crisp, which makes them really nice to use.

I haven't attempted to wring accuracy out of our WK180 but the post above notes 1.5 moa, which is honestly very good for a budget SA rifle. Rifles twice the cost, like the Tavor X95 can't produce accuracy anything like that.

Wk180 is perfectly fine for coyotes, varmints from 50-250 yards, 350 might be pushing it. Its my farm varmint gun of choice and I have taken many successfully. I have a triggertech single stage trigger and makes a very nice improvement over stock. I also like to load with heavier 60 grain Hornady V-max projectiles. As far as a Tavor goes it likes heavier bullets as well and the stock bull pup trigger more difficult to deal with.

What type of accuracy have you been able to get with the heavier bullet and a good trigger?
What optic are you using?

Do you like your ALG ACT ? if you have to start over would you get a fancy trigertech?

I have dissemble the trigger and watch a bunch of video on how to improve the stock trigger. not sure witch road I want a get to. I ordered a Bushnell Engage 4X12X40 and some Medium Weaver ring. Most people use the Fancy one piece but i notice that the optic sit a 1.5". I'll try to see if I put Medium Ring if I can get it lower on the receiver. Hoping I'll have enough room on the receiver for the ring.
