Quick and simple .308 VS .270 question

I know right now, she is not going to enjoy shooting either one, but with a little tweaking with a recoil reducer and a nice thick pad, maybe some reduced loads, I think we will be OK.
I think her flinch might be more in the bang in than in the actual felt recoil.
If this is the case then I would be looking at the 243 or 7mm-08. Both of them are more than capable for hunting, accurate, recoil less than the 308 or 270 and are available in the Stevens.

With the stock cut for her and a good recoil pad, along with the psychological factor of shooting a small round (which you talk up), she should be ok. If she is always going to be afraid of the rifle she will never enjoy shooting it, a flinch can be hard to cure.

I have been reading up on the 7mm-08 sice your post and although there are not alot of options for factory ammo, I may just be leaning that way.
