i started to assemble my lee breech lock challenger kit tonight and noticed theres only one quick change bushing in there, how many of these do i need to load a single caliber? id like to not have to un screw them during each phase. my guess was i needed two in total, ill have to check again but i dont see a second one in the box anywhere.

For bottle neck cases you would need 2 bushings. I really don't see the issue about changing dies. Once your die is set and the lock ring tightened, what is going to change? Spin out one die spin in the other, test one round to make sure and away you go.

Now try the same exercise with a bushing fitted die/press. You'll be a convert ;).

The bushings are handy but if you only have one then just lock it in and screw your dies into that as per a regular threaded press.

The locking nipple sometimes sticks in the down position on my press (sometimes for weeks) but I have never seen a die move from where I set it.

I'l be honest I don't think they save that much time. A nice idea but at $8 a piece or so, is it worth it?

its only 8 bucks its not gonna break the bank. i was just thinking for convenience. what are the tolerence for the dies? are we talking thousands of an inch, tens of thous? hundreds? how much room is there when setting the bullet with these things?

quick change bushings

good day all:
i use the quick change bushing in my lee press.
i have them on all my dies,it makes changing dies so much faster and simpler, theres never a change in the die setting,1/4 turn..good to go.

just my opinion i like em

I use L&L bushings in my Redding Ultramag. Likewise, 1/4 turn...good to go and no loss in quality or consistency vs threading em in.

I understand the "ease of changing" thing, but I do this to relax and I'm not getting paid by each cartridge made. To each their own, but I don't see it as a major feature. I load right now 4 different rifle calibers, that would mean 8 bushing x$8= $64 plus tax. I can buy a good supply of components and enjoy shooting them rather than save 30 seconds to change dies. Plus having to buy a press to take the bushing. Just my opinion and worth what you paid for it.

i can see how it would add up fast when loading high volumes of these things. but ill only load a single caliber with it and im quite happy spending the 8 bucks to buy another bushing . thanks for the help guys.

I just order 12 from factory sales. Its $6 for 2. That way each die I get has one. I also ordered all my dies and other reloading gear thru them. Fast delivery to

good to know, what are shipping rates like with them? ill probably grab one from buffalo gun center next time im over there theyre got good prices on reloading gear

I do not want to derail the thread but does anyone know if the Buffalo Gun Center carries Redding equipment and dies?

Thanks in advance.

uchi, if you are going to buy bushings, spend a little
more and get these ones. They eliminate the lock ring
that some people have trouble with, and will never get
out of adjustment.

I got lee deluxe rifle dies for $22 each and 3 die 4570 set for $18. Lee reloading manual 2 ed for $12. Everything was way cheaper and I saved a lot. Now I just have to figure out how to use everything

I load a lot on a Lee Breech lock Challenger. I bought a bunch of bushings, but find I just leave one in it and screw all the dies in and out like on every other single stage press.

thanks for the link rory, ill see if i can find one of those.

i put the press together the other night, now to figure out how to do things with it like push out primers, put in primers, and do stuff with the powder. youtube here i come, lol
