Collectors are inspected at random, correct? My question is, does one become a collector simply by owning any 10 firearms or more, or is it simply related to restricted firearms? I apologize if this has been asked before: I didn't see anything about this through the search function.

Thanks :)

I has to become a collector when I bought a 12(3) weapon. The local firearms guy said that the chances of an inspection were zero....

You are open to inspection for owning prohibs, being a collector or owning more than 10 firearms.

Piss on them, buy more.

It's only a paper thing anyway. With "collector status", they have to make an appointment at a convenient time for you.

However,
They can search anyone/anywhere at any time thanks to C.68. The procedure is that they ask for admittance, and refusal of admittance is grounds for the judge to issue a warrent.

See how many rights we have :puke: :puke: :puke:

I seriously doubt that a judge would issue a warrant just because you wouldn't let them in. They still need probable cause, and just because you said "no" ain't it. Even if he did, when the cops find nothing you'll have the warrant as proof in your police harassment lawsuit.

Do you have any examples of this happening to anyone?

Hold on here, if I own 10 guns or more police can come to my house and inspect them/my house? Whaaaa???

I was inspected once in 1998.
If you in complicance with the law - its not a big deal (somewhat annoying - but not a big deal) the fellow was decent enough -- and made some recommendations how I could improve my storage (lag bolt my 1 ton safe to the floor, and make a seperate alarm setting for the gun room).

Was actually surprised how smoothly it went (other than the idiot asking my then wife if she thought I was planning on robbing a Brinks truck -- I had just bought a FN L1A1 and a Hk91 in the space of a week - maybe he thought I was going to recreate HEAT ???? ) [and no he is no longer emplyed by the gov't I'm told]

Did you have 12-3 status prior to this purchase?

From the jest of it since you are no longer aloud to take them to the range and "target shooting" was no longer an option and the 12-(2-5) guys were forcively made "collectors". I could be wrong.
