I have a Slavia 624 in .177 cal that I bought over 35 years ago. I tried shooting it a month ago and it would just barely dent a thin cardboard box. I mentioned it to a guy at work and he told me that the leather seals are probably dried out. He said to break the barrel open and fill the gun with 3 in 1 oil and let it sit upright for awhile and let it soak in. I left it for a month and then took a shot from it in my basement at a cardboard box. Surprised the crap out of me that it went through the box bounced off the floor and hit the wall and bounced off the ceiling somewhere. Probably wasn't a smart thing to do but I really didn't expect it to do anything. Couldn't believe filling it with 3 in 1 oil actually worked, but I wonder for how long it will last. Took it outside to the back yard, filled a 2 litre bottle full of water and set it about 20 yards away. Took a shot at it and it blew a hole right through the other side. Now the kid has a gopher gun to play with and I didn't have to spend any money.

You would have been better off using Neet's Foot with silicon.Take the gun apart and soak the piston head seal down in a plastic cup of the above for a week than wipe off and reassemble.........I did this to a 30 year old Telly Hungarian .177 and along with a $7 utility spring from D+L Airguns in BC it's cracking 600fps again............Harold

Thanks for the advise, but I don't have a clue on how to take one of these Slavia 624's apart. Fiilling the air chamber with oil fixed it for now.

Remove and measure the mainspring.Inside diameter of the coil, outside diameter, overall length, wire dia and number of coils.D+L Airgun in BC carries utility springs for like $6 or $7 get the one that is closest.Lube with moly and soak leather seal as described and you should be back in buisness for anothe 30 years or so.............Harold
