In light of more comments coming forth about the SKS. I have a quick question for you guys.

If you get a fixed magazine on a Norinco SKS, how many rounds can put into it. I know that the restriction for semi-auto rifles are 5 rounds. Does this apply to the fixed magazine SKS, or is it just for rifles that have a detachable magazine. It would be a good rifle if you can load it with 10 round stripper clips.

Kind of looking for a beater gun, and HD rifle......

Thanks for any light on this situation.......

It's the same for all centrefire semi-autos, the fixed mag on a regular SKS is pinned to hold only 5 rounds.

I highly suggest you pick one up, you truly can't go wrong.

I have a bunch of "pinned" stripper clips that hold five rounds :) I jammed some rectangular shaped hobby toothpicks inside the rails to limit the stripper capacity to five rounds. I found that a cut down striper is just too small to handle, plus you have to crimp one end (makes it difficult to identify which end slides into the guide).

I took a wack of the 10 round SKS strippers, dremmeled them in half and squeezed the cut ends with a pair of pliers. They are now effective, workable 5 rd strippers and save some room in the mag pouch now.
