So i got the nomad/marauder stock installed an ready to go. I took butler creek mag and the 2 promag mags with me, the butler creek feeds fine with no issues. The 2 promags are occasionally failing to fully eject the casing. My question is, is this a mag issue or did i not put the kit together properly? I am assuming it is a mag problem or need to use different ammo but was looking for some opinions. Hopefully i don't need to take the kit apart again.

Thanks!

It's probably not an assembly issue. If it was, you'd have a very hard time seating the mags in the well or getting them to lock in.

Come to think of it, I can't really imagine the mags being the cause of eject failures, unless the tops of the mags are seriously intruding into the ejection port. I just tried mine, and the ProMag is way more clear of the port than my old beater RamLine mag, and it doesn't cause any feed or eject issues either.

How many rounds have you put through the mag? Although I had no issues with my 9/22 mags, I understand that some have had to run a few loads through them to get them broken in.

The most likely issue is probably ammo-related, IMHO. What have you been shooting through it? If it's anything low-powered or low-velocity, that might be part of the problem.

I'm just guessing here, but I'd look at ammo issues first, before taking the kit apart. As a good marker for assembly issues, if the 4 small screws (that go down through the receiver cover into the Ruger sight rail holes) lined up & screwed in easily, you got it together absolutely right. If you were off even 1/10 mm, they would be a bear to get in.

Thanks for the reply, the 4 set screws went in easy after taking it apart a couple times. I will try different ammo and see if it continues once the mags are broken in, maybe thats all they need. The ammo was the federal 525 bulk pack, so that might be it. I did try 15 cci mini mag and they fed fine, but i couldn't try anymore cause i only had 15.

But i still really like the stock, it feels awesome. Now i just need to decide on optics or staying with the open sights.

just for some clarity, what do you mean by not fully eject? and are you using the stock barrel? I could see it being a mag issue if the round is being fed good enough to fully seat and fire, but just slightly bent enough to be too tight in the chamber.

It pulls the casing out of the chamber, but when it spits it out the side it catches the end of it and jams it. Sorry i can't describe it much better. Think its called stove piping.

That is, indeed, "stovepiping". It's frequently caused by short-stroking, an extractor problem, or...ammo. Remington ammo is famous for causing stovepiping in 10/22's, especially their lower-velocity stuff. It may work fine in other guns, but 10/22's like a little more "zip".

I did a little browsing, but couldn't find any stovepipe issues in 10/22's related to magazines. All the problems seemed to stem from extractor problems (usually, crud issues) or ammo selection. All the advice I found was to look at disassembly as a last resort (not that it's difficult in a 10/22), as the problem is likely simpler than that.
