The other month I'd purchased a few different sizes and colors of S&J's DSC Detachable Shotshell Carrier Strip hoping for a homegrown alternative to the venerable shotshell card from Esstac. This has long been the standard, and is a phenomenal product. Outside of the fantastic build quality, one of the biggest wins was rigidity.
Most shotshell cards using scuba webbing suffer from rounding, which can impact retention on the receiver. So, after tracking S&J's introduction of the hard Tegris core, I thought I'd finally give it a go.
Fit and finish is strong on these units with a few minor blemishes and gaps - really immaterial when you factor in the application. Alignment is good across my units. Tension on the stitching is a little weak in some spots, but will take some time to see of these pull. All in all, I'm happy here as I'm treating these as consumables.

What really sets them apart is how flat they sit against the receiver, providing much better adhesion to the loop-side. Napkin math - 80% more contact? I've had issues with loaded cards coming off the receiver on the run, and haven't seen these budge at all. This to be is the biggest advantage of the rigid core against standard scuba webbing.

Overall, I've been extremely happy with these units, and will certainly buy more in future. Minor nitpicking, even less of an issue. Lol. Looking forward to see what's next for S&J and Rugged Textiles. Great job!
