I got a new scope, and want to sit it before I go to the range, so I can at least hit the target.

I taught just removing the bolt and look in the barrel and adjust to that point.

Anny other idea on how to have that done quickly and costless?

Do not Sith the scope, you will regret it, it is not covered under warranty, take it to a gunsmith before you do anything rash.

sithing a scope...

:D

do the barrel thing at 25 yards or so.
have a GOOD rest front and rear and fire a round.
hold the rifle steady on the rest and move the scope cross hairs to where the bullet actually hit.
then sight on the target center again, fire a round an you will be VERY close if not dead on at 25 yards... depending how steady you held the rifle on the rests.
i had to check my spelling twice ... just to make sure.:D

recently at a hunting course put on by a PoCo member, he said the way he 'bore sights' his new scopes is to take any target, pull the bolt, line it up on the target (when the barrel goes black) and then sight the scope in on that target. when you fire, it should hit paper and it saves you some $$$ dosh $$$ for ammo and such.
