I used stripper to take off the finish from a walnut stock, and soaked it in oxy-clean to get out the oil from the stock (which worked amazing by the way), do I still need to wash the stock in mineral spirits to get the stripper residue off or do u think the oxy clean got that residue off? It sorta seems like all the stripper washed off of the wood.

thanks in advance!

I think you'll find even minerl spirits to be quite "oily".

I use alcohol, it's clean and evaporates quickly, and "raises" any wood
fibre "whiskers" so you can sand them down. The alcohol seems to neutralize
wood stripper quite well. I've never had a problem using this method and then following with a traditional Linseed/Tru-oil-type finish.

The oxy clean may have removed it but I would flush it with hot water and set it aside to dry. No point in leaving anything behind which may may affect the new finish. Mineral spirits would work as well but the hot water will help to raise the grain for sanding and it's cheaper.
