Hey all.

Just received my tavor today which I purchased off the EE. I PM'd the seller but while waiting I figured I would ask here and get some input.

1) I have a PMAG here, it will insert a few inches and struggles to go further. I feel like it may be the pin. When I do seat it, it wont drop free at all. Is this normal?

2) When I instert a USGI mag with dummy rounds, its very hard to seat the magazine. I was practicing speed reloads today and just when I thought the mag was in, it wasnt. When I try to jam it in quickly, I have to really press hard and it finally seats with a loud click/pop

Here is a video to show what I mean:

(dummy rounds of course)

In this video it works, but still is slow and feels like I have to force it. Not confident every time that the mag is in.
First mag is empty, second has dummies.

Seems very unreliable and inconsistent and I haven't heard one complaint about this so I dont think its inherent to the gun. It may be something noobish, what ever it is I just want to figure it out because its slowing down what would otherwise be very very quick reloads.

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

The rivet may need to be filed down a little, also if you check with a calliper the width of the magpul mag may be a hair wider than your usgi may and may need to be sanded down a bit. They are a tight fit and need a little work to drop free, if you need them to.

will the new M3 pmags address this or still the same issue? I wont be using these pmags anyways as the rear is not filed down for the tavor yet.

I have the same issue with my tavor. It's due to the fact that the tavor was not designed to use modified mags. Which 30 round mags pinned to 5, are. I just open my bolt first, insert a full mag, then hit the bolt release. You get used to it.

Pin the mags to 5.9, TV press has a video of him destroying an improperly pinned usgi mag while forcing it in on a closed bolt.

Heh. Yeah I do!

(caution language. I was unhappy to see that failure)

Also: M3 pmags do drop free quite nicely, and the CTCS ones I got were pinned well enough that I can insert a full M3 pmag on a closed bolt. Did so this afternoon!

Anywhere to get the M3 mags now?

I have zero idea how that ping could be in the piston head. It must have been damaged while the bolt and carrier were out of the gun.

No other explaination seems to work in my head.

It shouldn't affect the performance of your Tavor though.
