Hi there, I was wondering if there is a place where I can download a complete database for the QuickLOAD program?

I recently purchase Frontier game ranger bullets for my M14 and I can't find these in the database of QuickLOAD (168gr and 185gr). The bullets are flat point, long and cylindrical and I'm a little worried about the pressure that will built up because of the friction with the barrel. I have to seat them deeper than what my book is suggesting because the tip of the bullet is too big and it stuck at the beginning of the rifling. It won’t let me close the bolt if I put the suggested seating depth. Maybe some of you are familiar with this program and can help me create the database of the frontier bullet.

In this program is there a place where you can enter the cylindrical surface length of the bullet and where it stops touching the barrel?

Plated bullets have the same peak pressure curve as lead. But note, same pressure peak pressure isn't the same as velocity.

I don't have QuickLoad installed right now, there are others who should be able to help.
 
Look for the file frontier.bul
You can add an entry in the quickload file using any text editor.
Copy an existing entry and change the bullet name and then use quickload to edit the data.

I know that the first for the name, 2nd for the weight of th bullet, the 3rd is the length of the bullet, other stand for what?

I've come to the conclusion that, QuickLOAD do not considere thefact that the bullet is cylindrical or conical. I thought there might be an increase in the pressure built because the bullet create more friction than the conical type bullet. if its the case, then I'll have to check for signe of overpressure on the primers. the only thing the program is considering is the weight, the seating depth and the base of the bullet (boattail) in connection with the ammount of powder you use.

Now, i have an other question, do you guys think that its gonna make an innaccurate load if my 110gr bullets have to "Jump" in the riffling since the bullet is so small and it has to be seating far from the biggining of the riffling?
 
I've realise that there is an option to quantify the force needed to overcome the pullout resistance of the bullet + there is a note about the bullet touching the riffling (my case) that say to add more "shot start pressure" if its the case.

So I've pass from from 47000 PSI peak pressure to 55000 PSI, witch I think its still ok to shot them. I'm gonna give you results when I come back from the range.

my load are:

Hodgdon H335 37Gr + Frontier Game ranger 185Gr (1.034") + OAL of 2.450"
Hodgdon H335 39Gr + Frontier Game ranger 168Gr (0.940") + OAL of 2.450"
Hodgdon H335 42Gr + Hornady SP 3031 150Gr (1.047") + OAL of 2.750"
Hodgdon H335 47Gr + Hornady SP 3010 110Gr (0.820") + OAL of 2.600"
 
everything went fine, all the bullet got shot (110) in total. No sing at all of overpressure, so for those who want to try these bullet, your good to go. I cannot give you accuracy result since I had no scope.
