Does anybody here have Quickload, or other pressure/velocity predicting software?
I stumbled onto a surprisingly accurate load today, and was wondering how hot I might be (although the brass doesn't show any adverse pressure signs). It was just too windy and mushy to set up the chronograph today, and besides, I never expected to get results like this!
This one is .308 Win./ 220 gr. Sierra R.N. / Norma brass / 45 gr. H4350 / CCI 200 primers.
Out of an old 18.5" Model 7, I was cutting a shaggy hole at 100 m. I don't know what even possessed me to even try it, except I have an awful pile of 220 gr. Sierras that I got for cheap and I was in the mood to try something different. Judging by the trajectory, they must be moving better than I expected - they're landing only about 1.5" - 2" below 180 gr. Remington factory loads!
I also worked up to 44 gr. of WW760, which was also remarkably accurate, but they strike about 6" below the 180 gr. factory loads.
I never would have dreamt that this Model 7 would even stabilise 220 gr. bullets, much less shoot them that well. In fact, getting this thing to shoot has always been a bit of a challenge. Who'd have thought the accurate loads would be so far out into left field?
Anyway, if somebody could run that data for me, I'd sure appreciate it.
