I just bought a Gamo 1250 fps air gun, it is awesome except way too loud for what I want
What is the quietest most powerful airgun?
thanks to all the experts for their advice!!!!

If it has a muzzlebrake take it off and you'll be much quieter. I have an older Ruko with no brake, and compared to my brothers new Beeman...well, there's no comparison sound-wise.

if it was 495ft/s, you could probably make a suppressor as it's not a firearm, if I'm interpreting canadian firearm laws properly. Don't quote me on it though.

1200ft/s airguns ARE LOUD, physics make it so. It's like trying to muffle a grenade, it's kinda hard to do that.

Try heavier pellets you may be going supersonic and creating a sonic boom. Heavier pellets may slow it down enough to be subsonic.

Like the others have suggested, use heavier pellets to get out of the super sonic range.
Working cans are illegal on any airgun, shrouds and fake cans are not, go figure. KD

As above, high velocity is loud, nothing you can do about it except keep it subsonic with heavier pellets. Also, a longer barrel helps, the compressed gas is at a lower pressure when it exits the muzzle.

As for a suppressor, the device itself it prohibited, regardless of what firearm or non-firearm it fits. Therefore it is competely irrelevant if you only use it, or only intend to use it, on a sub 495 fps airgun.

Thanks for clearing that up!
