Quintessential Handguns

Glock 17- cheap, reliable, and you can beat the piss out of it at courses, give it holster wear, dings/scratches, etc and not lose sleep over it
S&W 586- gotta have a wheelgun, and Pythons are too expensive
1911 in .45- it's just one of those guns that you need to experience. I'd get a double stack 2011 frame in 9mm myself, knowing full well that would be sacrilege.
Ruger 22/45- cheap to shoot, accurate as hell, ugly as sin
Sig P226- IMO it's THE quintessential pistol. When I think of a handgun, the P226 silhouette is what I imagine. High quality, very accurate, still affordable. Everyone and their dog should own at least one.

Anytime anyone says Glock I immediately go "PPQ!" ... the Glock pales in comparison, and with the hilarious pricing of Glocks now, you can pick up a Walther for LESS!! It is truly a no brainer!

I'd like to pick up a Walther and probably will eventually, but I've never seen a P99 or PPQ for less than 600 bucks which is what some of the 3rd Gen Glocks have been selling new for recently.

I sold a PPQ M1 Navy for $650 last week and bought a 5" like the pic above for $750 with Meprolights and 3 mags!

All the Glock 17 pistols I've seen lately are at least $750... which is way too much for what you get... If you ask me.

A PPQ is not a Glock, you can try to copy it, but hardly equal it... JP.

Drank the kool-aid eh...youre right though, a PPQ is not a Glock! I've owned 4 Glocks... Not one of them holds a candle to the Walther. I am going to assume you haven't shot a PPQ or taken one apart and compared it to a Glock. If you had, you wouldn't be heralding Glock as better.

...and no! I'm not Hayday lol. I don't dislike Glock... they are just vastly inferior to the Walther... for the same or more money!

You do realize you're talking to Caramel, right? He probably owns Walther GmbH!
I've shot both. The Q has an infinitely better trigger and reset than the Glock. But I've had Glocks for about 30 years and I just know the gun so it's still Glock for me.
I

I did compare them and still think a Glock is ahead, the G19 gen 4 in my mind is untouchable with the 3.5 pounds connector and spring kit, but i could be wrong but this is the way i see it... JP.

Yes I've seen him around and how many posts he has... does that mean he is correct? ... no

The Walther is a Glock that has been updated and improved. Like I say... 4 glocks under my belt. They just aren't as good

Look at picture above^^^He does have a Walther!!
I've had enough discussions about the merits of Glock vs. the world to know that when people are set on something, they won't change.
But it's interesting to see that the benchmark "quintessential" handguns that people compare to nowadays are always the 1911 and the Glock.
I say, live and let live. Enjoy your Q. It's a nice gun but let those who like Glocks or 1911s or Hi Points enjoy them too.

I dont want to win an argument, my G19 gen 4 have gained the status of untouchable but my G21/G17/ G17L/ G20/ all have left for other home, my PPQ 45 and my 99AS also, like my customs 1911 and my S&W Model 29, the first time i shot my G19, i knew it was home forever... JP.
