mine seems to be a jamomatic, anyone else having the same problem? What's the fix? I'm using Hornady ammo. Thanks for any help that you can provide.

Be thankful... many of them were "kaboom"-o-matics... with out of battery ignitions. I had two... very nice guns and accurate, but both suffered out of battery explosions. I could not bring myself to sell them in that condition and rebarrelled them to LR before selling them off... mine cycled well with Eley and Hornady, when they weren't blowing up in my face.

As far as I know, they never found a reliable fix... but they say you MUST keep it meticulously clean.

ah! That may be the problem! When I first got it, it worked just fine. It prolly needs a good cleaning. Thx for that.

Can you tell me more about these out of battery explosions? Am I at much greater risk shooting it left handed?

The bolt was igniting the primer in the rim as it picks the bullet up from the magazine... in some cases there were chain reaction ignitions inside the magazine... mine only did it twice each... that is four times too many IMO... as a lefty, you have more meat on the ejection side (not calling you a "meathead")... that can't help.
