I have seen the R U Ready timers start using a pressure pad, or buttons. I've checked out the R U Ready site and they don't seem to have those listed. Is there another place to get the pressure pads/buttons and timer from?

Jack (RU Ready) custom makes the pressure pads; if you contact him - he likely can make them for you too.

If you went another route than RU Ready, you'd need to find a timer with a external switch option.
I'm not too familiar with the big CED or current Pact line, but they're all big enough that they might.

I didn't know these were available.....there are more than a few stage designs where I could imagine these being of use!
Yep, the pressure pad is neat for a self-start. Those timers with the external start switches caused some neat starts too. At one shoot at the WS in Bisley, the start signal was a traffic light going from red to green. We once built a photo booth and wired the timer start button to a camera flash. I loaded film in the camera and got a lot of funny pics. :D

Years ago we had some starts that used lights or other visual cues. We have shot pressure pad starts (computer stage) at the US Nationals where stepping on the pad not only started the timer but activated the computer controlled (varying exposure) targets. Jack once had a multi string stage at Northumberland where opening and closing a door started and stopped the timer.
Pact MK IV timers have lots of input jacks for stop plates and other features
