R22 makes it in!

OK, mine hit the door today. No buyers remorse, it's sweet.

The only two areas I've noticed that are not wonderful are the safety, and the rail.

The safety fits horribly. It flops around and looks like a really poor quality part. I'll be replacing it ASAP.

My safety selector is also pretty poor but thats the only issue so far

This thread should be in the rimfire section.

It's far more a "black" rifle than many others discussed here, while it could go (and there are threads) in the Rimfire section, I wouldn't say it is out of place here either... if the mods feel a need I am sure they will move it.

Should threads on .22 pistols go in the rimfire section too just because of their ammo?

Nice gun Bernse :!: I never had a thought about buying a .22 but now I really want one!

Hopefully I'll make it to the get together at Hammerheads Sunday.. if I do, I'll bring it with me..

Actually, scratch that. It'll be too dark and I don't think the bar would appreciate me packing it in. :(

OK, I test drove mine today. It works great. Like all .22lr semi's this one had a few jams especially when it got dirty. Most were caused by incomplete extraction and resulted in the spent case being crushed by the bolt on the second pass.

I tried Fed 510 Lightning - works OK, not 100%
Fed 745C bulk copper plated works 100%
Fed 710 Gameshock plated works 100%
Fed 510 Champion (likely the new branded Lightning) works OK, not 100%
Winchester Wildcat, indifferent performance, regular jams
CCI Velocitor, would not feed

I had to mount my Bushnell Holosite instead of the Leapers as my rings are too short, so I didn't worry about accuracy, just group. All grouped well

During the range session of about 600 rounds, I ran the bore snake through it three times. I also had to stop shooting after 200 rounds as the magwell and trigger housing screws had become loose and had to be tightened.

Once back home I took the stock and lower off and cleaned the beast, without completely removing the bolt. It's very well built.

My only major complaint about the gun are a very few assembly issues, like the loose bolts and the mag catch roll pin not being seated deeply enough, and the poor quality safety lever. A relatively minor issue is that this gun can fire out of battery easily, and if you let it get very dirty and use crap ammo, eventually one IS going to burst on you. Use clean ammo and run a bore snake down it every few hundred rounds, and I don't think you'll ever have a problem.

I think this gun is a great value for the money, and I would buy another in a heart beat.

If you are thinking about getting one, I don't think you will regret spending the cash.

I stripped mine down and gave it a good thurough cleaning and wanted to mount my scope this AM.

I was pulling metal out of the barrel from the patch.. I suspect leftover from machining. This really suprised me.. there wasn't a lot, but defenitely some.. way more than I would have thought.. slightly larger than sand grains but probably 30-ish bits of it.

Cleaned out the bolt, trigger, was a bit of crud in all of it, but not awful. Pulled off the forgrip/rail assembly and gave the barrel a good whipe underneath. Boy, was she dirty! But just from oil more than anything else from shipping I suspect.. but now it has a nice matte finish to it.

I will not say that the safety has the "slop" like some others have been saying, but it sure isn't smooth.. not like my SP1 or even CQ311. It is funtional though. May replace it.. may not. It's going to be my plinker so it's not really a biggy for me. I do like the grip though.

Went to mount my scope - rings are too short.. WAAAY to short. I will admit, I never mounted a scope before but it's a 3-9x40 and I bought rings that were for a 40... silly me, I thought they'd fit. Christ, they have to be a 1/4"+ too low.

Oh well, at least she is all cleaned and ready to shoot now.

Message to anyone else with them:

The 4 hex/caps that hold the rail to the receiver. Are they all the same length on yours?

On mine, the front one was slightly longer than the other 3.. so much so though I think it is too long and actually not holding down the rail.. I think it's bottoming out in the hole before it even tightens.

I'd appreciate another owner to take a look if they take theirs apart..

Thanks!

You see that as a relatively minor issue??

If you're a lefty and refuse to wear shooting glasses and maintain your gun, I suppose it's a big deal.

Call me brave, or stupid. Then again I also shoot beside guys firing S&W 686's made during the Bangor Punta days
