R22 Problems? Anyone else suffering?

Has anybody heard from Rhineland or found and alternative solutions (with in reason) to the FTF problem with the R22's or has anybody returned their R22's for a refund yet?

I decided to sell my R22 as I felt my money could be spent on something else. After I get the new bolt (to send to the buyer) I will not be buying Rhineland Arms products again. I find it funny that there is such a delay for helping customers with problems, but they seem to have enough time to make new rifles and new accessories for the rifles to keep selling. The one thing that pisses me off is when a company insults my intelligence.

Not to rub salt, but mine pulled off a 200 round looney sized group with nearly dead batteries today.

Am I the only one with one that runs 100%?

WOW...I couldn't have said it better myself...After this long and the amount of money spent, RA should have correct the problem long ago. Three of my freinds that were going to by R22's have since bought 10/22 because of problems and lack of service I received. RA is not going to stay in business very long if they continue to treat people this way and unfortunatly it is reflecting back on TSE too.

Agreed. The service has to improve. More importantly, the next generation have to be more throughly de-bugged before release.

From what I've seen and heard, the issues we've had with the current 2nd generation guns will be addressed. I wish a better synthetic stock was available, but at least a proper wood stock is now an option. With the bolts being made in house, I expect fewer issues. One thing that sucks is that the new guns will be set up only for the Butler Creek Steel Lips mags. Might as well settle for the best if you have to settle for only one.

I picked up a Butler Creek 25rd Steel Lip mag the other day.

It almost 100% cured my issues. I went through 4 or 5 mags without a single incident. I did have 1 at the very begining (first round out of a brand new mag) and Max Owner had 1 at the end of the day. I would still like to get one of those new bolts from Rhineland/TSE to make it 100%, but as it is right now, I am a fairly happy camper. Does suck though that the supplied mags seemed to exaggerate the problem.

I took mine up to BGC for the action rimfire match. I could have sold 5 R22's if I had them.

I heard from Thomas. Looks like the next generation rifles are just waiting on the new bolts being delivered in enough numbers. The next model will have a bolt hold open and a wooden fixed stock.

Which begs the question, what mags are the owners with issues using?

I tried both the hot-lips and the steel-lips and neither works and about 4 different types of ammo...Its nice that thomas is building new and improved guns, but he still hasn't addressed all the people that bought over-priced paperweights and I am wondering if he ever will or if we have been scr*#ed

I couldn't give a rats ass about the stock, but the hold open would sure be nice. I always whince at dry-firing a rimfire.

The Ruger bolt has a cross pin thru the firing pin that limits it's forward travel, so no great risk of peening the chamber's edge.

I doubt the beast will lock open after the last round. It's more likely just a manual hold open.

Has anyone heard from Thomas at RA lately? He hasn't responded to any of my e-mails for quite some time and did not answer the phone when i called this afternoon

I heard from him early last week.

Anyone think that perhaps the failure to supply replacement bolts is due to the fact that they may be insolvent. Possible that the cost of replacements my put them under so to say. Small firm can't take a hit like that big and still stay afloat.
Just a thought and not based on any fact so take this with a grain of salt.
Find it odd no replacements just promises and now no answers !

Generation lll rifles will have an "improved geometry" (quoted after Rhineland Arms info). What it might mean is that they finally aligned the barrel and the receiver. If this is the case the new bolts (which are suppose to be installed in Gen lll rifles) will not improve Gen.ll rifles cycling. If this is indeed the case then we should demand replacing our Gen.ll with Gen.lll rifles.

"Also, thrid generation rifles are being made now. These have revised geometry and are designed to work only with the Butler Creek mags. The new rifles are working very well with more types of ammo. Even have one working with Federal Champion ammo. The R22 still will not work with any subsonic except Remington."

from AR15.com

in my opinion the last bit is rubbish as i have shot one with winchester subs and several people on AR15.com said they have used various sub sonics.

I sold my rifle, but when I was shooting it, I used 25 round steel lip B.C. Mags and 10 round steel lip B.C. mags.

Also, out of all of the ammo I used CCI MiniMag worked the best. I got the most consecutive shots without a failure while shooting them (up to 10 shots in a row).
