I just got the pad today and put it on my gun and had to post.
Mines mounted on an 870 and ive got to say this is the best pad i have ever used!!!!! None of the punch, sting, hit...etc that i assosiate other pads with is present at all. Even after shooting very long shot strings.
normal trap loads almost feel like my 1100 except for the bigger push.
After shooting a couple of boxes my shoulder feels the same. Even with remington heavy shot. This pad is amazing!

Is it possible to mount these on wood if one were to remove some wood?
How much wood would a wood chuck have to chuck to fit the R3

Limbsaver also makes pads for wood stocks. I looked into it a while back.
Didnt go too far so cant suggest a cdn dealer. i got mine on the forum

Good to know! Thanks.

Check out Ebay USA.I got mine from a fellow who will ship worldwide.$34.00 Canadian, shipped.A lot better than the $49.99 plus tax that my local shop wants for one.

I was told by a smith that the R3 cannot be put on a wood stock. Only on synthetic. Have it on my super mag and love it. Asked if they didnt put it on their new guns because am looking for one for the GF. He said not on wood but only on the synthetic. They put it on the SPS rifles too.

That's what I thought too because Remington does not offer it on the wood stocks.
But it seems it is available from the makers of the Limbsaver pad.
It's Limbsaver model # 10102

I have the LS model #10102 on my walnut-stocked Wingmaster. If fit right on without any mods required.

The pad is very tacky, so not great for rapid shouldering of the gun, but boy does it ever make a huge difference in perceived recoil. Great product!

Remington also offers it on more than the SPS model rifles now too, like the CDL

I have one on my 870 since I shoot slugs and heavy turkey loads out of it

Remington 870 with speedfeed and R3 recoil pad

I was at the gunshop the other day and saw a new remingtion 870 from the factory that was olive green in color and had the speedfeed stock with the R3recoil pad. I asked the guy behind the counter to see if remington had a parts listing for the R3 on a speedfeed stock, so I could order a couple replacement pads for my two speedfeeds. I have yet to hear back but i will be calling them.

From the remington law enforcement site

Remington now swings the pendulum even further on 870P Police shotgun line offerings. The new 870P MAX carries maximum features for tactical shotgun application. The buildup starts with the standard 870 Police Parkerized 18" barrel shotgun. We’ve included the Davis Speedfeed® IV-s 13" LOP full pistol grip buttstock for ease of handling and comfort while wearing a vest. (Stock is 1" shorter than a standard full length stock)

Next is the Wilson Combat®/Scattergun Ghost Ring sight system that includes the XS® interchangeable front sight. This system also allows the user to remove the rear sights and put on a low profile front bead for instant bead sight acquisition. Last but not least is the Surefire® Tactical fore-end flashlight with momentary & toggle switch ON/OFF application. Other features include Remington’s new R3 recoil pad to lessen the felt recoil of full load buckshot and slugs as well as provide a quicker second shot recovery.

• Davis Speedfeed® IV-s 13" LOP pistol grip stock
• 2 shot extension tube
• Surefire® Weaponlights™ (Model 618 FA)-a 6V Shotgun tactical light
• Wilson Combat®/Scattergun Technologies Ghost® Ring Rear Sight
• XS® interchangeable front sight
• Remington R3 recoil pad

I've got an R3 pad. Great pad, but it seems to wear quite easily.

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't like it.

Tried it, didn't like it at all. Too mushy, too tacky, too soft.

I prefer something more substancial.

Regards.
