R33 bolt release on the M305?

I've got one on an M305 I picked up awhile ago. The seem well made, and work better than the SEI bolt release I have on a couple other M305's.

Anyone know the history on these and if they are still available? A brief web search fails to turn up much recent info, but my web-fu is weak.

Made in Canada by Rooster 33 and really good kit. No longer in production.

Rooster33 is the legend and his R33 release is a piece of crap and I have to give you $5 for it. Yuk yuk yuk

I miss those Canadian made tac bolt release. They seemed to be the best fit for the Norinco M14 geometry. Now Rooster33 has moved on to much bigger design projects like the MDT Tac21 and LSS. The rest is history since their company MDT is super successful.

What's not to like? They are a board sponsor here on CGN.

Say: maybe we can convince him to make more of them R33 tac bolt releases. I sure miss them.

One day I ran into Rooster at a gun show. He noticed I was making the op rod spring guides for the M14 and asked me if I would like to make his bolt releases. His only stipulation was that I should continue to use his machinist to manufacture them. I was all over that like a fat kid on candy.

The only difference is that I have been using the more durable nitride finish rather than a parkerized one, but its the same part, right down to the guy that builds it.

So, still available folks ... look under the Rifle Accessories tab on the magwedge.com website.

I will send more clients to you. Here's why:

The SEI unit is the one I currently have and use. I happens to be on my SAI M1A. Life works well. The SEI unit comes with a pin and it's the correct size pin FOR the M1A and other American receivers. NOT always an easy fit with the Norinco receivers. So interpret that as "hit and miss" with the operation of bolt retention etc.

Now with the R33 unit (I've installed several of them years ago), Laz / Rooster33 and his folks designed this unit with the Norinco receiver in mind so that you Norinco owners will not have any nasty or goofy surprises on the install. Be nice to your pin on the removal process of your factory bolt stop since you can re-use that pin once again.

The R33 bolt release works quite well. I think I like it better than the SEI model.
