RA XCR-L light barrel accuracy issues????

Was shooting my pencil barrel today in the hot sun. Wanted to make some slight adjustments to my zero bcuz i knew it was off. First group 5 shots was decent 3inches @ 100 yards on a plastic table. started doing some quick firing on steel, went back to paper and my groups were so large they wernt even groups anymore. The barrel and handguard were scortching hot but I dunno if it can affect accuracy that badly. Actually considering the scope might not be retaining zero, will need to check next time I get out there.

Hope you figure out what's going on and report back to us. I'd love to see some definitive barrel heating tests done on a light barrel

I sent the gun to wolverine as I could not figure it out. I did however discover the valve that adjusts the gas settings was extremely loose (the little screw that holds it in place was torqued all the way down) the valve just spun around with no tension.

If you carry the gun more than you shoot it, get the Keymod light barrel. If you shoot a lot and rapidly, then the heavy barrel makes sense. If you shoot slowly and enjoy the scenery between shots, then the light barrel should do fine.
X39 surplus isn't target ammo anyways.

Using good Hornady ammo my 223 pencil barrel has done 1 5/8" 3 shot groups when validating zero.

Generally it is a run of the mill 2-3 inch group. I swear it seems way more accurate when offhand shooting at rocks, boulder, cans etc. It seems to hop or jump when using a bipod and scope.

I coyote hunt with mine and the accuracy is acceptable although some ammo brands are wildly inaccurate as with many guns.

How about when the gun is hot? Do you have a comp length version or regular?

IIRC, you live in the States, correct?
Out of curiosity, if so, why did you choose the XCR platform vs. the AR down there? Seeing as the AR is lighter, has more options and is supposedly more accurate than a stock XCR? Is there something the XCR has that the AR doesn't?
Thanks!

I've experienced this with semi-autos as well, I now shoot from a bipod just like I would without one, firm grip on the forend, none of this one handed arms crossed at the stock style I see on you tube, seems to make a difference, at least in my opinion.
