Rabbit Scrollwork Little Badger

I need to do a video on the whole process. I have a small Youtube channel where I post some stuff : https://www.youtube.com/@FrostyPineLabs
An 870 to test on would be amazing to test on, they have a nice broad side.
I was thinking a Deer scene on one side and a tactical door kicker scene on the other, showing what the gun is for.

Disassembly on this Chinese tank is tricky...can you do it assembled .
I'll send it out, and pay all the costs.
This Ithaca 37 copy has a lot of real estate to engrave.

I hear ya, some old hand engravers I know feel the same. The art is original though and I don't see the difference between someone hitting a chisel over and over, or me tapping with a laser doing the same thing. Different tools to achieve similar things -
You say that, until you actually go grab the chisel and try to do it. Its the same as how vastly different it is to cut a 1/2" strip off a plank of wood with a cnc VS handsaw then trued by a hand plane.

something like this with a stylized "Shotie" might be fun.... :)

That's really cool. If the art is yours plugging it into a cnc is all good in my books, I couldn't draw to save my life so you could give me a cnc and I still wouldn't be able to do something like this! For the other side, I'd do a cool dog sniffing the trail in pursuit of the rabbit.

That's where Dall-E 3 is blowing minds..... if you can think it and vocalize it you can create or generate a fair bit already, and we've just begun the journey of AI.

The future arrived 10 years ago they just never bothered to tell us!

I went with a hunting dog tracking the rabbit.

I appreciate everyone's ideas - I think I'll have to make some more.
Beauty, I was stuck on prey but thinking on the others suggesting foxes and other predators I realized that predator/prey is a good combo on a hunting tool! The dog even brings it in deeper for dog lovers.... :)

I'd love to hear more about your engraving setup Frosty.

It's about as basic as you can get :)

20w pre-owned fibre laser

Some basic tools like a vice, levels etc

Software - Adobe Illustrator and Lightburn

Its pretty hypocritical of me to say as someone who runs + programs CNC's all day, but the charm is lost for me when I realized these were lasered on. Its kind of like discovering your rifle has stamped-on checkering for the grips, yknow?
No way, laser cut chequering is way better than pressed. LOL

Some people are worthy of ignoring.
I don't know man, it would be a pretty boring world if we all liked the same things...... art is subjective and that is what makes it interesting.
If someone doesn't like cnc laser engraving they can seek out something else that floats their boat.... no big deal on the grand scheme.

To be an artist and step on the stage or showcase your art in public is to open yourself up to criticism and praise..... takes balls.

I guess I'm odd man out.
I tend not to criticize unless I can produce proof of doing better.

It takes all kinds FatCatsDad, there is no real right or wrong, without constructive criticism things progress more slowly.
As long as you don't think that your approach is some how superiour to another persons approach, it's no biggie.

That said some people are negative and seem to get off on dropping hate..... hurt people, hurt people sort of thing.

I think where people fall down is we tend to think that our way of looking at things is better then someone else's..... the real irony is that diversity is our strength, just not in the way it's been suggested politically sometimes.

Amazing! How deep does the 20w cut? Can you actually feel the groves or is it like etching? From the pictures looks pretty deep and defined.
