So after going out for a few weeks without getting any rabbits or even seeing one. The other day, my buddy was jumping up and down on a log and a huge beast like monster broke cover and was coming straight for us. :p

A fatal mauling was prevented through judicial use of #4 Steel shot.

Here's Trevj doing the work after his Ruger 10/22 has done it's deed once again, near Lessard, just west of Cold Lake.
Lot's of deep snow today, should have brought some snowshoes in retrospect. Thankfully today's relatively warm temp's easily complimented our long day in outdoors Alberta.
Trev seen seven, I saw one (!) And I was too slow......
He shot two of them, typically at 10 and 12 meters or so. They have gone to a Caper lady and are due for the stew pot.

All in all, a wonderful day to enjoy outside!

And a right bloody slog through the deep snow it was too!

Really interesting to figure out the places they were, during the day. Think, thick, solid, miserable-to-run-through cover.

To the plus, they were not very keen to run, and would hold tight till I was well withing 20 yards or so. That's a long bloody ways away, in that cover! They could float along on top the snow, with the slight crust. Me, not so much!

Fun day out, and something a bit different from what I'd done before.
Thanks for that again, Brutus.

Here's the second of the day, about to meet the same fate as the one above, getting naked and cooling rapidly!:)

Cheers
