Rabbits don't live in the wild anymore.

Same thing with squirrels here.

In 20 years (i'm 22) of messing around in the woods, I have never in my life seen a black/grey squirrel in the bush. I have only ever seen them in city woods (parks/nature areas/other city green areas/ Golf courses) or in peoples backyards. I have spent a fair deal of time camping/hiking/canoing in the bush and have only seen red squirrels and chipmunks out there.

Same goes for rabbits.

Growing up in SK we used to hunt jackrabbits all the time. Wasn't hard to go out and shoot a dozen or so.
I've been back for almost 2 years and I have seen exactly 2 jackrabbits since then.
One was in downtown Saskatoon, the other was at my dad's shop in the North Industrial area.

I figured I spend 40 days or so out hunting and work in the field the majority of the time.

So where did the rabbits go?

Snares work wonders...and you can practice a useful survival skill. Your local picture frame shop or dollar store can supply nice fine braided wire, ideal for snares...

I think trapping wildlife in BC requires a trapping licence. Please tell me I'm wrong!
I'll be researching city trapping bylaws.

same problem here! running through my yard, massacringthe garden in the back yard... I live in Toronto for crying out loud! only animals should be US and Racoons! They're all over the GTA!
