Rabbits. help me out.

You won't find them sitting around in the afternoon, because they are basically nocternal. Getting them at dusk and dawn just means catching them at the start and finish of their active peiod.
When I was like six and seven years old, we lived in the boondocks of bushland northern Saskatchewan, when there was a tremendously high cycle of snowshoe hare. On a bright moonlight and northern lights lighted night, I used to dress up and go out, even in the bitter cold, just to watch the rabbits. In a half hour I might see 25 to 50, and I could get so close to them, if I moved slowly.
One didn't have to be out very long until the screams of a dying rabbit pierced the cold night air, as some preator got his late supper.

It's too bad you can't hunt at night, cause the jackrabbits here in the city are very very active around 10pm. Every night when I drive home they are darting in and out of everything, usually I try and chase them with the truck :)

Success ! unfortunately because of the law and time the sun actually came up most of the plan went out the window. we ended up just walking through the bush during the day looking for rabbit tracks and what not. at first we would kick fallen trees and what not and found a few spots that looked heavy with tracks so we kicked and nothing. eventually my buddy spotted one that was just sitting there still as day and shot it. Good sized white rabbit. After that we changed up and would find fresh tracks, fallow them untill a area of high traffic, stop and keep our eyes very keen to see if we could find some sitting around. never actually worked but our spirit was high ! Talking about it after we think next time as well we might try a mini bush push kinda method. have one guy make his way up infront from a flank and than the other guy just walk fallowing a trail normal to the other guy and see if any get scared and run to the guy sitting still.

fun day anyhow. just finished cooking the rabbit up and now im about to take the first bite... hummm,,,, chewy but not to chewy ,,, tasty.
