Raccoons!

Always catch and release dead in the container. I like my blink set up. I get a notification while watching tv and the CCI segmented 710fps never fails me (neighbors nearby). Shot placement is key.

Raccoons are a terrible nuisance in our neck of the woods. Any tips or tricks to reduce their numbers?

They eventually get wise to dog proof traps as well as live traps.
They shouldn't get wise to DP. if you trap them always gang set. also, use a white golf ball as a visual attractant AND it stops mice and such from raiding the cat food out of them.

if you have a furharvesters license, or you're on your own private land (very private, as in no one will ever see or hear, and I no NO way encourage this ) then you can pick up coil spring traps from cabelas. Learn how to blind set their trail, a coon will never pull a stake, if a deer steps in one it will pull it's foot out.

I recently found out that in BC, Raccoons are "protected" as are many other annoying wild animals . You can be charged for interfering with them.
Also read the story of the Manitoba woman who was fined and sent to court for harassing a Canada goose she was trying to avoid.
Raccoons are a furbearing species. SOme guys I know literally make their living as trappers (though very humbly) and every fox, coon, bobcat, otter, beaver etc blown away is money out of their pocket.

Now, coons on your property causing a ruckus? Light em' up. They aren't in danger. but most places have a season for raccoon hunting. always check your local laws. Most DNR places can't say it's fine to blow them away, but also could care less about a coon

I done heard coon meat is good eating, maybe blended 50/50 with coyote and made into sausages is the way to go.

I suggest you read the regulations. NBL is an acronym for No Bag Limit.

Boy am I glad I live way out in the sticks. Conibears and 22 lr takes care of just about anything that comes close to your house. This summer it was foxes. I didn't know they can be such a nuisance.

I wonder if the Goodnature A12 (design for opossum), auto setting kill trap, might work for those who are in town,
I have seen a few in use in New Zealand for Opossums, 15-20 lbs in size.
How big to Raccoons get in size?
Biggest one i ever skinned was pushing 37 pounds. Majority are more 15-20 but in late fall 30's are common
