I've recently acquired an STI Trojan and have been eyeballing the DAA Race Master Holster. After a little bit of research I realize there could be an issue with how well STI 1911's function with this holster. I'm not talking about how a guy may have to do a little filing here are some sanding there but how, due to the shape of the trigger guard, you can't get a nice snug fit. You just have to live with a little bit of wobble.

Anyone care to comment based on personal experience?

Thanks.

I think you can get the muzzle holder separately to stabilize round trigger guard pistols. If you don't, the pistol could "summersault" and point backwards.

Lots of users of the STI 1911s and the DAA RM holster here with IPSC AB.

I don't like the holster honestly. I find you have to have a perfect straight up draw, otherwise it will hang up. My holster journey was CR Speed - DAA Race Master - Manny Bragg magnetic, before finally settling on the Safariland 014.

Thanks gang for the input. After a lot of consideration I've decided to go with the Ghost Stinger. I'm brand new to IPSC and I figure I better use a full holster for simplicity. I'll have a lot to think about as it is so adding a race holster to the mix doesn't make sense to me at this time. See you on the range!

Good decision, I'm not a race holster fan.... unless you have something so weird, it can't be made to fit in anything else. I've seen MANY people forget to unlock race holsters and I've stopped people who didn't reholster properly, because they were just about to drop their guns. I'm surprised they're as popular as they are really!

that's lack of training.

your always going to have a little 'wobble' in a race holster with 2 contact points and maybe a 3rd tension screw. That is the nature of a quick draw holster.

Now the upside to that 'minor wobble' you get between stages, is a very fast and intuitive draw. Just don't be that guy that runs with the gun in the holster. If its not in your hand, its NOT in control.
