Just have a few questions

I want a pistol, semi auto, single stack. Furthermore, I want the longest barrel possible, either compensator or not does not matter but somewhere around 7 or 8" maybe even longer I do not care, but overall longer than say a government 1911 (5" I believe). Also I want the trigger to be light (2.5 pounds ish) and either good iron sights but preferably a mount capable frame/slide, like a c-more red dot or something.

Regarding the calibre the higher the better, say .40 or higher, prefer a .45

Lastly I know this may be counter intuitive but I want it as cheap as possible, around $1,000. I have seen some nice stuff from STI, Tangfolio, etc, but they seem to be more on the $2,000 range. Maybe I should try EE?

Any suggestions, preferably with pics and specs.

So you want a single stack open gun for $1000 bucks? ha:

You might have some luck scouring somewhere like the Brian Enos forum - someone might have something with a gazillion rounds through it that they'll sell super cheap, but importing will consume $200-400 of that "budget." Maybe you can accumulate the parts, bits, and pieces to build it, but I'll assume you don't have the wherewithall to put it together and make it work so you'll be spending more money on gunsmith time.

As far as the weird barrel length, I'm pretty sure you'll be SOL there. Same as far as caliber goes; if you find anything at all, it'll likely be in 38 Super/Supercomp.
 
Want a funcutioning racegun? You will have to put up the $$$$$$$
Better to go standard or classic for the $$$ you have suggexted.

That about sums it up.

If OP is serious, I suggest buying an Armco tuned Norc 1911 and having Gunnar install a compensator and the optic mount and work the trigger down to OP's desired pull weight. That would get him a tuned 1911 in .45 Auto with a compensated barrel and optic mount (but no optic) for around $1000. It won't be a real open gun, but it will look some of the part and probably will be a damned good range gun overall.

Probably the best suggestion, I was thinking of something along these lines. Also race/open gun was probably a misnomer. I just wanted the above but when I suggested it before people say I wanted a race/open gun. Also would Armco do an extra long slide like they used to do to the 1911 under the moniker "hardballers" (not a reference to hitman) or "long slide colts".

You would have to ask Gunnar if he can do a longslide conversion or fit a longer barrel. It will add significantly to the cost, though.
