I noted their relatively calm disposition despite being in combat.

One buddy's father was a helicopter pilot over there in the late 60's. Iroquois pilot if I remember right. He'd tell us some pretty hairy stories as kids after he'd had a few... He was also the kind of guy that wouldn't let the truth get in the way of a good story! Entertained us kids though... Growing up in a border town I got to meet a lot of Vietnam Vets and dodgers as well over the course of living there.
