Hi

I managed to find them online for about the same price for the 5" Taurus raging bull and 7.5" Ruger super redhawk, so price difference is not a problem.
Does anyone have any experience with them?
Pros and cons? Is the Taurus' frame smaller (wife will use it with 45LC for fun)?
I already have a Puma in 454 Casull, so ammo is not an issue.

Thanks!

I have a 4.2 inch redhawk. Awesome gun, sturdy as can be. Frame is big, like with average adult male hands I couldn't comfortably go any bigger. Straight shooter, reliable and a treat to shoot.

Can't tell you much about Taurus, but I wouldn't hesitate on the ruger.

The raging bull is possibly the best firearm taurus makes. Frame is plenty sturdy, and the grip and barrel porting make shooting easy. I regularly shoot 40 rounds of hot 44 mag for big bore silhouette out to 200m. No soreness, numbness etc. i couldn't imagine doing that with a non ported gun without some discomfort afterwards.

Both are great guns, I've owned both. The recoil is a little softer with the Taurus, it's heavier, ported and has a better grip. But the grip on the Taurus is also bigger and may not be comfortable for a women to hold on to. With the Ruger you can get aftermarket sights, grips and spring kits. None of which is available for the Raging Bull.

I own a Redhawk 4.2 44mag and a SRH Toklat Alaskan in 454 Casull, i am amaze at the sweet trigger of those Rugers, recoil is very controlable...
I have no experience with the Raging Bull. reviews are good for it... JP.

Have both. Like them both. Edge goes to Ruger for quality and smaller grip size. Taurus has a very quick-breaking trigger.....almost unpredicatble. Ruger has a smooth no-creep crispness. Both are built like vaults but for a smaller hand I would steer clear of the bull unless small aftermarket grips can be found. To be fair though, the Hogues that Ruger is putting on their guns are too big also, for a smaller hand. I wish they'd go back to the fantastic rubber with rosewood grips of yore. Both are great guns.

Thanks for all the info!!!

I managed to try a 5" raging bull in 454 and a redhawk in 44mag at the range.
I found the 7.5" of the Ruger to be a bit too much and I liked the Taurus trigger better.
There are pachmayr grips for the Taurus, hopefully they are smaller than the factory grips.

Just another question....
Is the 5" too short for the casull? (Bullet velocity)
Especially because it is ported???

I tried searching for the 6.5" Taurus, but nobody has it at a decent price.

I have yet to shoot mine. I promised a buddy that he would be the first person to fire it. He has a love for the 454 Casull.

I made the purchase because I love the robustness and quality of Ruger Redhawk revolvers.

Just can't beat them for value.

Super redhawk correct? Very different firearm than the redhawk. I find the redhawk far prettier but i find the super redhawk to be the better gun by a good margin.
