Is it possible to install a rear sight or a rail on a shotgun that has neither, just a smooth upper surface?

I was looking at a Fabarm shotgun (20" not the tactical one I think it's the SDASS 20" trainer) and although there is a fixed front blade, there was no rear sight.
Is it possible to get a ghost ring (for example) mounted somehow on the rear?

You can either mount the rear sight directly to the receiver or you can mount a weaver rail and then a rear sight that mounts onto that rail.

LPA sights makes both versions, the receiver mounted mounts a bit lower but the Weaver rail mount sight is more versatile- for example you could remove the sight and mount a scope if you wanted.

the lack of a rear sight shouldn't be a problem then, I guess, if a gunsmith can install a rail on it.

drilling and tapping the body for a rail... is that an 'expensive' thing to do? Perhaps I should just get a model that already has a rail

Remi 870s and Mossberg 500/590 are usually drilled and tapped at the factory. Winchesters too. Lots of options for sights and rails with those models.

I would have thought that a Fabarm would have already been drilled and tapped. But that's a guess

:confused: Neither of mine were? It's no biggie anyways. Takes all of 15 minutes. I just drilled and tapped my 870 for scattergun tech sights and love them. Do it, you won't be sorry!!;)
