So, I'm brand new to the whole AR 15 game and not long ago I picked up my first AR. It's a DPMS (oracle I think). Non-free float hand guards so the only rails are above the action and the gas block.

I tried to put a short 1-4 scope on it today, with normal Leupold rings and found they wouldn't fit. I had these rings on my M-14 scope mount and they fit perfectly.

Are there different specs or types picatinny rails, or do you think there's something fishy about my rifle.

I don't have any other scope rings, or firearms with rails to compare with right now.

Well you generally only have Picatinny rails or Weaver rails... On ARs it'll be a Picatinny rail, for your scope you'll probably want a cantilever style mount, Vortex, Burris, or American Defence comes to mind, you can get them from almost anyone of the sponsors... The AR has a specific height so that you have either a lower 1/3 or an absolute co-witness with your irons

why would they this thread isn't about NEA. It's about a DPMS oracle i believe. and his scope mount not fitting. people are offering up suggestions as to why it may not fit right. i like go fasters idea.loosen everything up scope rings, rail clamps so everything can move freely. put it on and if it still wont fit look into another mount.
