I am building my first AR & I am deciding between the Larue & TROY 9"
mid-length handguard. Is it just personal preference? Any pro/cons of one system over another?

It will be on a 10.5" LMT upper

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Get the Larue - both their product and customer service are second to NONE.

What about DD? Their Lite Rail I heard is amazing. I'd consider DD as well.
If not, I prefer Troy. LCF is higher for me with Troy, especially in their new Tan color. :)

I bought troy from CQB Services. Nice stuff. Nice guy. Don't need more as I can't use the rifle in my job. For a paper puncher, it is plenty enough

Depending on your skills, the troy will likely be easier to install and a very good bang for th ebuck. Construction is right up there. Larue is also very nice and the machining is impecable. It is also a little harder to install. Their CS may be great and they maybe very nice people but they won't deal with Canada so anything you get from them will likely have to be dealt with from a dealer....unless of course that has changed.

I would suggest Samson, nice gear and easy to get as Armseast on here is a dealer. Larue makes awsome gear but much harder to get and install.
Troy is basically the same as Samson, Samson used to manufacture the Troy products.

Troy/Samson best feature to me is the continuous top rail.

Hi guys, this is somewhat of a tangent. I want a railed handguard but as I will be using it on an issued C7 a free float system isnt really for me. I dont have the knowledge, skill, or authorization (read ability to get away with it!) to modify my weapon to that degree.

I am currently looking at the MI system and the Yankee Hill Manufacturing system. They both seem to be well made, and are quite cost effective. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with either of these products or has any recommendations. Thanks guys.

Thanks again guys.

KAC M5 RAS (Knights Armament) comes up for sale used here from time to time. They are quite nice, and will replace the handguards on the C7 without modification. They are a little more money than the two you reference.

For the original LMT 10.5 try the DD 9.0 lite rail from Wolverine. I will be doing the exact same thing when i finish getting the lower together. A nice light package for a shorty! Very high quality as well but a very nice top rail setup to boot. May want to see about having it installed if thats a concern.
