I've got a SPS-V 700 in .308 would like to do some long range shooting, and was looking on getting a 20 minute rail. The thing is, I keep on hearing about rails that won't hold a zero, or aluminum rails that can't take the abuse of anything larger than .223.

So I gotta ask,

-Can an aluminum rail hold up to the abuse that .308 and larger dishes out?
-Are there any manufacturers to avoid?

Any feedback is appreciated.

aluminum holds up just fine on 308, iv got 2500+ rounds on my EGW and its never shifter off my zero.

and if you stick with night force, ATRS, EGW, NEAR, and the likes your good to go with no problems ever

A 20 MOA rail is a good idea ( though as Paperslayer says above ) you might have difficulty zeroing at sub-100. Anyway, while I use steel mostly I have used aluminum without any issues ( I used EGW from Allen Gunworks ) at all. I'd avoid the real cheapies but any established brand will work well. Near Mfg in particular is excellent.

Also interested in this except I'm looking for a 0 MOA rail, anyone in Canada carry a decent priced Rem 700 SA rail? if i can recall all I've found is EGW that ships to Canada.

Why do you think you need a 20 moa rail?
Have you maxed out your scope?
How far will you be shooting?
How much adjustment is in your scope?

Anyone know where I can get a 40 moa rail preferably in steel? To make the best use out of the minutes of elevation on my PM 2 you need a rail with big moa.

I think Near is the top of the heap, quality wise and Richard's customer service is outstanding, plus he's Canadian and a heck of a shooter to boot. I also had a Near base and brake for a TRG 22 and both were outstanding.I have a Near 20 moa rail on one of my rifles and no issues whatsoever zeroing at 100 m.

I dont recall exactly but i think it was around 180ish. Well worth the money and I wouldnt hesitate to buy another if I needed.
