I like the rainguard on Bushnell Elite series of scopes. I was wondering if any other manufactures have that feature and if they don't, why not?

Do a google for optics (rifelscopes) etc. You'll find some really good info. I'm pretty sure Bushnell's "Rainguard" is a trademark name for the coating they use.
Most manufacturers do coat their lenses. (If you look at the specs on them, they will say whether they are multi coated, partially multi coated, fully multi coated etc.)
Bushnell Elite series of riflescopes are definately a great bang for the buck!!

Leupold has add-on filters called the "alumina" line and they have the hydrophobic coating

Simmons has come out with a hydrophobic coating on their masters series

Browning scopes have a hydrophobic coating

and Nikon offers a lens wipe like rain away for the lenses

By far the Leupold idea is tops if they would only use their new gas charging system they do in their VX-L series in the VXIII's we could get a much less reactive gas charged scope with high quality lenses and a replaceable hydrophobic filter system so after a couple years of cleanings you buy new ones and your back to 100%.....Ya, didn't you know that everytime you clean your Bushnell elite lenses that you are degrading the Rainguard coating? Well you are!
