Ramline Stock Help!!!!!!!!!!!

How bad are they? I have a stockless Winchester 1894 that I was thinking about stocking up in a Black-tical (Thanks Subzero for that term :)) stock for amp-type use. It's only an NRA-fair gun, so it just has to work.

they're just your regular basic tupperware plastic stock, probably costs Ramline $3 in material to produce. Two pieces of plastic glued together, the hockey puck recoil pad probably helps to hold everything together.

There's no question that the Ramline is the 'econo' synthetic stock on the market........ But if push comes to shove & you are in need of an immediate replacement they can be quite functional.

I have a Rem 788 factory carbine in 7mm-08 that had a well worn wood stock on it. Several years ago I picked up a black Ramline for it. This was back in the days when the Ramline's came with a Pachmayr decelerator recoil pad installed from the factory [as opposed to the hockey puck that Todbartell describes, which seems to come on the newer versions].

Anyway, maybe I was just lucky. My 788 action just dropped right into this older version Ramline that I bought NIB as if it had been made for it. No further fitting required. The barrel is floated in the barrel channel from the action forward. To top it off, this rifle delivers MOA 100 yard accuracy just as is, with the econo Tasco World Class Plus 3-9x44mm scope installed. Over the years I have thought about upgrading the scope but why jinx things. I've had a couple of other older Ramlines & have been please with them - for the money. If you are looking for a Ramline & can find one of the older ones with the Pachmayr recoil pad, personally I'd take it over one of the newere ones. Just my .02....

I've got 3 Ramlines and they do the job as well as my Macmillan and Bell & Carlson and Remington stocks do.
Kid brother has had a Ramline on a short-barreled 416 Rigby for several years and if anything will test a stock that beast will...
