Ramshot TAC and various bullets (56k death)

My aim here is to illustrate my experiences with Ramshot TAC and various .224 bullets. At the very least I'm hoping to get some advice to help improve my reloading process.

I chose 5 bullet types to test, shown here:

So far I've only loaded up two bullets, the 75gr Berger VLD and 77gr SMK. Hopefully next weekend I can test the others.

Brass: FC .223 (American Eagle brass)

I'm kind of disappointed with the match bullets. I know it must be something I'm doing but I've put 69gr matchkings through my Stag upper and I was getting better results than this so I don't know what to think. Insights?

That said I think I was getting better on the trigger as the day went on and it shows in my groupings.
 
I am not a 223 expert but I do know one of the things you have to look at is your rifle twist to your bullets. I can never remember if it is a faster twist and heavier bullet or vice versa but a little research on line should be able to answer that. you are loading very heavy bullets and unless your twist is suited for that it could explain why you are not getting stellar results.
 
Save those 62 grainers for the upcoming carbine matches...

Is that a 1-5 powder leopy? If so, try aiming at a 1" black paster with a clear background.
Those VLDs likely won't give anything but average groups out of an AR - the 73gr. BT target bullets would be a better choice.
Hang onto your upper - if you are benching it and you have slop in your upper if not steadying it, the hammer strike alone can create shotgun like patterns like those groups.
However, seeing as your barrel isn't floated, be sure to grasp it nearer the magwell, and be sure if the upper is supported on a bag or the like, do it nearer the magwell as well, and keep the forward grip away from any pressure it may apply to the barrel - or better yet, take it off for your ammo testing.
Next up is your loading techniques - tighten it down one item at a time. Use the best components and tools you can afford. Match primers, match seating dies both make considerable differences.
There's more, but that should be a start.;)

Also, try getting rid of the fellows in the green/blue banana hammocks...they might be too much of a distraction for you at the firing line lol

When are these carbine matches? And where?!

The barrel is floated, it a DD Omega rail. Also, all shooting was done prone, resting the mag on the ground.
 
Carbine matches TBD - but we'll be sure to post in the SR forum.

If that is floated, what are the front and rear hand guard rings doing?

Mag supported prone is ok for stability, but try bagging it front and rear.
