So for a newbie who understands none of the lingo but would love to get my feet wet without breaking the bank, whats the difference between level 2 and 3, and are they different from the ceramic/aramid AK plate. I live in Ont

Level 2 is medium caliber handguns or less.

3a stops up to 44 magnum and 12ga slug.

3 is rifle plates, it will stop a 308. Super fast rounds like xm855 and maybe m193 may still penetrate

If you need to stop multiple 308 hits or some 30-06 blacktip theres the rcmp overrun plates too. Theyre level 4

The 10x12 3a plates are a nice cash deal to get started. Supply your own carrier. If you want side plates too, these can work together with the smaller cash deal plates.

But i can also vouch for the s&j 3a plate combo. Those would be really light and thin semiflexible pistol plates. As i posted when i got mine, theyre great for at the range, or even turkey hunting if you're worried about public land jaggoffs shooting at movement.

The cash deal plates would be heavier, same penetration protection, but may have less felt energy related injury since they're thicker material. A slug will still ruin your day.
